Terrell Williams is this year's Defensive Player of the Year. At 5-foot-10, 195 pounds, Williams was a defensive back, running back and punt returner at Hoover High School. He was first team All-Western League three times; first-team All-CIF twice; and first-team San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic team two years in a row. He was named Western League Defensive Player of the Year. He was a member of the 1998-1999 All-State Team and was ranked 23rd as a running back in Rivals 100. His coach, Willie Matson said, “Terrell is a special person off the field as well as on the field.” Williams received three letters in varsity football, four letters in varsity track, and three letters in varsity basketball.
With a 3.69 grade point average, he was named four years to the school honor roll, and was football academic captain. He was a member of the Key Club. He lists his hobbies as bowling, lifting weights, computers, parties and barbecues. Williams plans to major in medicine at the University of California at Berkeley. He is the son of Darryl and Sheryl Williams of San Diego.
