Brian Russell is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound safety, quarterback and cornerback from San Diego State University. He was captain of his team's offense in 1998 and captain of the defense in 2000. He was All-Mountain West Conference in 2000, and All-Academic and All-Western Athletic Conference in 1998. He was All-Academic Mountain West in 1999 and 2000.
He received the San Diego State Monty Award in 1998, 1999 and 2000. He received three varsity letters while at state and achieved a 3.5 grade point average. His coach, Ted Tollner said, “His excellence in the classroom, exemplary citizenship and his ability to prioritize has had a very positive effect on his teammates. Brian Russell is one of the most complete student athletes on our team.”
Russell lists his hobbies as surfing and basketball. He is the son of Paul and Heidi Russell of West Covina.
