Carlos Lara

Bonita Vista High School

Outside Linebacker

Carlos Lara is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound outside linebacker from Bonita Vista High School. A three-time varsity letterman in football, Lara was All-Metro League in both his junior and senior years. He was named to the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team in 1999-2000. Lara also received the Academic/Athletic Award in his junior and senior years, and was a Spotlight Student/Athlete on the Union-Tribune Prep Sports Show. His coach, Carl Parrick, said “Carlos has been the mainstay of the Bonita Vista defense for the past three years. Carlos established the school sack record with six sacks against Orange Glen. He is a very tough and intense young man.”
With a 4.32 grade point average, Lara was Associated Student Body Commissioner of Athletics. He belongs to the California Scholarship Federation, MECHA and the Associated Student Body organization. He is a National Merit Scholar semifinalist, and a National Hispanic Recognition Program finalist. Lara lists his hobbies as lifting weights, playing video games, going to movies, reading classic novels and surfing the Internet. He is the son of Jesse and Teresa Lara of Chula Vista.
