Tyler Arciaga is this year's Offensive Player of the Year.
He is a 6-foot-3, 225-pound quarterback from Bonita Vista High School.
He was all-CIF and Mesa League Offensive Player of the Year. He was
team captain in 1999 and 2000. In addition to being all-league two years
in a row, Arciaga was a PrepStar All-American, and was an All-American
in Best of the West Magazine.
He was named to the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team in 1999
in football and baseball, and was named first-team to the San Diego
Union Tribune All Academic Team in 2000. Arciaga received three letters
in varsity football and two in baseball. Arciaga has broken all quarterback
records in the 34-year history of Bonita Vista High School. He holds
the career records for most touchdown passes at 39 and a total 4,825
yards. He holds the record for the most attempts at 629 and most completions
at 343. His coach, Carl Parrick, said "It has been a real pleasure
coaching and teaching a youngster with Tyler's heart and desire. He
has shown leadership on and off the field."
With a 4.33 grade point average, he was a Ventures Scholar, All-American
Scholar and is listed in Who's Who. He was on the Principal's Honor
Roll every semester at Bonita Vista, and was named a California Scholarship
Federation life member. On campus, he belonged to the U-Turn Christian
Youth Group. Arciaga has been awarded a full scholarship to the University
of Nevada at Las Vegas where he plans to major in business administration.
He lists his hobbies as golf and bowling. He is the son of Bob and Sue
Arciaga of Bonita.
